Our History
Quality Guide
Excellence in Every Fiber
In the world of Panama Hats, quality is measured by the fineness of the weave, determined by the number of strands or weaves per square inch. Each category represents a distinctive level of craftsmanship, from everyday wear to exceptional pieces.

Grade 1-2
Standard
Cuenca/BrisaBasic weave, fewer weaves per inch (100-200). Ideal for daily wear. Less flexible.
Crafting time: 1-2 days
Weave Counting Method
Selection of a weave section
A representative part of the hat is chosen.
Measurement of one linear inch
A ruler or precise measuring instrument is used.
Counting the weaves
The number of times a straw strand completes an interweave in that inch is counted.
Importance of weaves per inch
- • The higher the number of weaves, the finer the weave.
- • A higher number of weaves means greater flexibility and softness.
- • Hats with more weaves require more time and skill.
- • The finest hats require months of work and are woven by expert artisans.
Care and Maintenance
The beauty of a Panama Hat endures with proper care. We recommend storing in cool, dry places, gently cleaning with a damp cloth, and avoiding prolonged sun exposure to preserve its color and structure.
